Investigação que pretende estudar a vinculação pré-natal, enquanto vínculo emocional dos futuros pais ao bebé que vai nascer, considerando que esse vínculo se pode construir a partir de fantasias parentais sobre o bebé que se espera, incluindo medos, sonhos, recordações das experiências relacionais vividas na infância, modelos dos próprios pais, da relação entre eles, em suma, o mundo mental e as suas representações. Faz-se referência teórica e conceptual sobre o conceito de vinculação, sua evolução e diferentes perspetivas, colocando o enfoque no entendimento psicanalítico, em que o vínculo se situa entre o mundo intra, inter e transubjectivo. É dada ênfase ao papel das relações dos futuros progenitores com as figuras parentais na infância e a sua representação enquanto fatores que influenciam o processo de «organização psíquica da paternidade», às relações que estes estabelecem com os demais, e entre si, em termos conjugais. No estudo empírico, para o qual foi constituída uma amostra de 340 sujeitos (170 casais) no terceiro trimestre da gravidez, procurou-se estudar a relação entre a vinculação pré-natal destes futuros pais com a representação das relações com as suas figuras parentais na infância, as relações objetais, os mecanismos de defesa e o ajustamento conjugal do casal expectante, bem como, com outras variáveis sociodemográficas. Os resultados obtidos revelam que a vinculação pré-natal é influenciada nas suas dimensões, tantos nos pais como nas mães, pelas representações que estes têm relativamente ao modo como foram cuidados e/ou estimulados pelos seus progenitores durante a infância e adolescência, pelos estilos defensivos mais utilizados, pelas características das suas relações de objetais, bem como pelas nuances da sua conjugalidade. Os resultados permitiram também constatar que as duas dimensões da vinculação pré-natal se encontram relacionadas com as restantes variáveis de formas diferentes, sendo igualmente diferente a forma como se verifica essa relação nos pais e nas mães. Relativamente aos resultados das regressões lineares realizadas, foram obtidas percentagens de variância explicada muito reduzidas, não permitindo predizer que a vinculação pré-natal materna e paterna dependa das restantes variáveis; SUMMARY: “Where was I before I was born?” – a Study on Pré-natal Attachment This research aims to study the prenatal attachment as an affective link between future parents and their baby that is going to come. This link can be developed on parental fantasies about the waited baby, including fears, dreams, memories about past lived childhood relational experiences, models of the parents, of their relationship, in short, their mental world and its representations. The dissertation makes theoretical and conceptual references to the concept of attachment, its evolution and different perspectives, focused on the psychoanalytic perspective, where the link is located between the intra, inter and transubjective world. Emphasis is given to the role of future parent’s relationships with parental figures in childhood and its representation as factors that influence the process of "psychic organization of fatherhood”, to the relationships they establish with the others, and among them, in terms of the marital relationship. The empirical study, based on a sample of 340 individuals (170 couples) in the third quarter of pregnancy, explores the relationship between the prenatal attachment among these future parents with the representation of relationships with their parental figures on childhood, the object relations, the defense mechanisms and the dyadic adjustment and also with other sociodemographic variables. The results show that prenatal attachment is influenced in its dimensions, on both fathers and mothers, by the representations of how they have been care and/or stimulated by their parents in childhood and adolescence, by their more used defensive styles, by their object relations’ characteristics and also by other nuances of their conjugal relationships. The results showed that the two dimensions of prenatal attachment are related with different variables in different ways, being also different how that relationship affects fathers and mothers. Regarding the results of the linear regressions performed, very small percentages of the explained variance were obtained which not allow predicting that maternal and paternal prenatal attachment depend on the remaining variables.
