Conta-corrente descreve um processo de investigação de um edifício devoluto na Baixa portuense, pelo método da fotografia documental; uma interação entre o fotógrafo investigador e o referente material, através do acto fotográfico. A questão inicial que se colocou: que enunciado emergirá sobre aquele estado de abandono? A abordagem implementada promoveu a expressão ‘autónoma’ do referente sobre a sua condição, através do olho da câmara e da sensibilidade do fotógrafo para reconhecer as narrativas visuais que lhe foram propostas pela materialidade do sujeito, e identificadas pelo concomitante estudo teórico realizado. A aproximação ótica e física ao sujeito, e procedimentos de corte, fragmentação e repetição fazem parte da linguagem fotográfica desenvolvida, que procura deixar o seu referente falar, simultaneamente, sobre si próprio, sobre as temáticas que propõe e sobre o próprio acto fotográfico. A experiência do operador na vivência do espaço encontrado e dos processos desenvolvidos é também inalienável da análise e dos resultados desta investigação. Ruína, arquivo, memória, entropia, caducidade e circularidade são alguns dos conceitos que emergiram no discurso proposto pelo abandono.
Conta-corrente describes a research process of an old unoccupied building in the city centre of Porto, using the documental photography method – an interaction between the investigative photographer and the subject, through the photographic process. The initial question to answer was what will the work say about the condition of abandonment? The guiding method for this research has been to study the subject, through the camera´s eye, while at the same time developing a body of bibliographical research around the various themes suggested by photographic interaction with the subject. The optical and physical approach to the subject, and the procedures of cut, fragmentation and repetition play a role in the developed photographic language, which seeks to let his subjects speak simultaneously about itself, about the themes that it proposes and about the photographic action itself. The experience of the operator in the space found, and of the processes that were developed, is inalienable from the analysis and results of this research The ruin, archive, memory, entropy, caducity and circularity are some of the concepts that emerged from the speech set forth by the abandonment.
