The main purposes of this work are to compare software used in the validation of the RCCTE and to propose a different method to obtain the final value of the needs for primary energy in buildings.On the first part of the work three computer programs were used on the study of two projects: one habitation and one flat. The programs used were: Envolterm, Amorim Isol+ and CYPE. By the comparison of the results obtained by the programs it was possible to analyze the main features of the software and to reflect on the needs for the certification of this kind of programs.The reason to perform the second part of the work is that the actual certification gives more strength to the effects of the systems used on the hot sanitary waters preparation, and minimizes the effects of the needs of heating and the cooling needs. In order to study this subject it was made a sensitivity study based in 17 autonomous fractions (13 flats and 4 houses), all located in Porto or Braga. Thesimulations were based on the coefficient used on the determination of Ntc and Nt to affect the values of Nic, Ni, Nvc, Nv, Nac and Na. The objective was the find a better balance between the three needs of energy.Analyzing the results provided by this study it was purposed a new method for energetic certification.KEYWORDS: RCCTE, Energetic Certification, Sensitivity Study, Needs for Primary Energy, Comfort.
