Description

This work adresses the issue of using solar termal energy, with special attention to its contribution in the production of sanitary hot water, very importante for better energy efficiency. Firstly it is analyzed the factors that motivate the application of solar thermal collectors systems in buildings. In fact there are plenty, with particular emphasis on the reduction of environmental pollution and energy bills, the last being usually the most important. Then we present some of the most common barriers to this type of systems, including most importantly the cultural and economic reasons (high value of the initial investment). The following is a description of the solar thermal market: the first European and then finer-scale concrete cases of Portugal and Spain. There is a market that is not uniform, there are large differences between countries, both in terms of incentive policies, both in terms of evolution. No one country has a constantly changing, that is, there are phases in which increases, decreases and maintains. Chapter 3 analyzes the operation of solar collectors, which stresses the importance of temperature gradients. In Portugal only accept certified solar collectors, which are listed in this chapter and that can only be applied by officers duly authorized to do so. The following is a brief description of how to make a energy quantification using the software Solterm. It explains which parameters need to be introduced and the options that can be taken. To study the application of solar thermal collectors in a building in use no better than refer to a real case study. In this work proceeds to the design and sizing of such a system. Occurs particularly important to choose the most suitable collector, in terms of productivity and the technical and economic analysis of this system. Having regard to the high period of return, it is found that is not a viable option. Then it is a sensitivity study, which analyzed the influence of location and consumption pattern. Itappears that the importance of location is much larger and are suggested to consider realistic minimum values for the solar fraction for each part of the country.
