Description
This dissertation, focusing Social Education and Community Intervention at the Polytechnic Institute of Santarém, deals with a research on the importance of the elaboration of pedagogical processes geared to student needs at the Fortaleza campus of the IFCE, Brazil. The objective is to identify the difficulties in the students' school path that influence the reprobation and consequent school retention, to propose pedagogical strategies that aim to minimize them, as a way of attacking this problem. High levels of disapproval and school retention are know in the Federal Institutes of Brazil. In the study scenario of the campus of Fortaleza-CE, the researcher analyzed pedagogical strategies to solve the problem in order to optimize the studies of the students, with effective pedagogical support. Conceptions and contributions of theorists were studied, among them, for their important contributions in the area of education, evaluation and teaching methodology, Marques (2000, 2006); Dias (2004); Patto (1999); Brophy (2005) Paro (2001); Neubauer e Davis (2001); Libâneo (1999); Piazzi (2014); Demo (2007); Volpato (2012) and Gil (2008). They are important theorists for contributing in the understanding and theoretical contextualization of the thoughts expressed in the investigation. Laws and other official documents that deal with the subject matter have also been used as sources of research and information. This work has as subject teenager students between 15 and 16 years old who repeated the second half of 2016 of the Integrated Technical Course of Medium Level in Buildings. Such research, of a descriptive and qualitative nature, had as an inquiry semi-directional interviews applied to eight students who went through the process of reprobation/retention; three of his or her teachers; a pedagogue; and a psychologist. It was concluded that the difficulties that contribute to school failure are basically a lack of routine student studies; relationship teacher-student conflict; inadequate teaching and assessment methodologies; insufficient prior students' knowledge and skills to understand the content; and choice of the wrong course.
