A presente dissertação aborda o fenómeno do Rockabilly em Portugal, propondo-se a investigar não só a existência de uma subcultura e um lifestyle relacionados a este género musical, como também defini-la e explorar as suas particularidades e dinâmicas. Assim, serão abordadas múltiplas dimensões de análise, nomeadamente, a subcultura Rockabilly portuguesa, a sua caracterização sociodemográfica, manifestações, levantamento de espaços e eventos e a sua relação com o exterior. Por conseguinte, será feita, primeiramente uma contextualização histórica do Rockabilly e, posteriormente, um enquadramento teórico, no qual os conceitos estudados serão a identidade e o self, subcultura, globalização cultural, rede e estilo de vida. Com vista a atingir os objetivos referidos anteriormente, em termos metodológicos, optou-se por uma análise intensiva e extensiva, através da utilização de várias técnicas, como por exemplo a entrevista, o inquérito por questionário, a observação e a análise de conteúdo. São, deste modo, dissecados nesta exposição os fatores que levaram ao aparecimento desta subcultura em Portugal e ao modo como esta se afirma no panorama sociocultural português.
This dissertation focus on the phenomenon of Rockabilly in Portugal, proposing to investigate not only the existence of a subculture and lifestyle related to this musical genre, but also define and explore their characteristics and dynamics. Thus, multiple dimensions of analysis will be addressed, namely, the Portuguese Rockabilly subculture, their sociodemographic characterization, demonstrations, survey of spaces and events and their relationship with the outside. It will therefore be, first made a historical overview of Rockabilly and then a theoretical framework in which the concepts studied will be the identity and the self, subculture, cultural globalization, networking and lifestyle. In order to achieve the objectives mentioned above, in methodological terms, we opted for an intensive and extensive analysis, using various techniques, such as interview, questionnaire survey, observation and content analysis. Consequently, the factors that led to the emergence of this subculture in Portugal are examined in this study and how this is undertaken in the Portuguese sociocultural scenery.
