Os Ismailis e os Lisboetas: duas faces da mesma moeda

Esta dissertação tem como objectivo, em primeiro lugar, apresentar a comunidade Shia Imami Ismaili em Portugal quanto às suas origens, cultura, organização, instituições e comunicação. Em segundo lugar, observar a visibilidade da comunidade e por fim, responder à questão se, de facto, os lisboetas têm ou não conhecimento sobre a comunidade. A comunidade Shia Imami Ismaili instalou-se em Portugal após a queda da ditadura Salazarista, em 1974. Integrados na sociedade e contribuindo para o desenvolvimento do país, os Ismailis não se afastam da sua vida em comunidade, praticando voluntariado e interagindo entre si, no dia-a-dia, dentro e fora do Centro Ismaili de Lisboa. A comunidade, apesar do seu desenvolvimento e da evolução das suas instituições, que desempenham o seu papel na melhoria da qualidade de vida dos portugueses, continua a passar despercebida aos olhos dos lisboetas. Apenas uma pequena parte da amostra conhece a comunidade e adjectiva positivamente os Ismailis. Quanto à visibilidade da comunidade, os lisboetas indicam, sobretudo, que os cidadãos portugueses são maioritariamente católicos e que esta não é alvo dos media, algo que pode ser observado pelo mediatismo presente nas visitas do Papa Bento XVI e do Príncipe Aga Khan, a segunda com menor destaque.

This dissertation aims mainly to introduce the Shia Imami Ismaili community in Portugal, taking special attention to their origins, culture, organization, institutions and communication. Secondly, it aims to observe the community‟s visibility and finally evaluate if the people of Lisbon do or do not have information about this community. The community settled in Portugal after the fall of Salazar's dictatorship in 1974. As a part of the society and contributing to the development of the country, the Ismailis do not abandon their habits, living in community, volunteering and interacting between themselves on daily basis, inside and outside the Ismaili Center in Lisbon. Despite the development and evolution of its institutions that play a role in improving the quality of life of the Portuguese, the community remains unnoticed to the eyes of Lisbon. Only a small portion of the sample knows the community and few adjective Ismailis positively. On the matter of the community visibility, the lisboans observe that the Portuguese citizens are mostly Catholic and that the community is not properly targeted by the media, something that can be observed by comparing the visits of Pope Benedict XVI and Prince Aga Khan, the latter had less attention.
