O presente trabalho de projecto tem como tema “Serviço Social e as Instituições Desportivas” e apresenta-se como requisito parcial para a obtenção do grau de Mestre em Serviço Social. Neste trabalho procuramos apresentar uma proposta de projecto que visa estudar e reflectir sobre um campo de actuação pouco investigado pelo Serviço Social em Portugal, no caso, o papel do assistente social no contexto das instituições desportivas. O projecto tem como objectivo demonstrar a pertinência da integração de assistentes sociais nas estruturas destas instituições, pelos contributos e utilidade que a prática profissional possibilita. O capítulo teórico deste trabalho apresenta-se como um elemento central na compreensão da pertinência do tema que se estuda, na medida em que existe alguma escassez em termos de investigação acerca deste, em Portugal. Utilizamos uma metodologia exploratória e participativa concretizada através de um levantamento de dados e uma análise qualitativa num clube de futebol de onze, o Sport Lisboa e Benfica. Aplicamos entrevistas semi-estruturadas, analisamos rotinas e funcionamento da academia de futebol juvenil e após reflexão destes dados definimos acções a desenvolver capazes de justificar a pertinência da integração de assistentes sociais nestas estruturas, baseadas nos rendimentos desportivos dos atletas, nas potencialidades de marketing que estas acções possibilitam e na responsabilidade social das instituições desportivas.
This project work is themed “Social Work and Sports Institutions” and presents itself as a partial requirement to obtain the Master’s Degree in Social Work. In this paper we present a proposal for a project that aims to study and reflect on a field of action with small investigation from Social Work in Portugal, in this case, the role of the social worker in the context of sports institutions. The project aims to demonstrate the relevance of the integration of social workers in the structures of these institutions on behalf of the contributions and utility that their professional practice enables. The theoretical chapter of this work is presented as a key element in understanding the relevance of the topic being studied, to the extent that there is any shortage in terms of research about this, in Portugal. We use an exploratory and participative methodology implemented through a data collection and qualitative analysis in a football club, in this case, Sport Lisboa e Benfica. We apply semi-structured interviews, analyze routines and functioning of youth football academy and upon reflection these data we define actions that justify the relevance of the integration of social workers in these structures, based on sports performance of athletes, the potential marketing for the club that these actions enable and social responsibility of sports institutions.
