A percepção dos pais sobre as competências dos bebés

O bebé nasce predisposto para a relação, com todo um conjunto de competências sensoriais, motoras e relacionais que, em contacto com o mundo que o rodeia, lhe vão permitir organizar e criar uma mente própria, o que o torna num ser único. É a mãe, na relação com o bebé, que o ajuda a criar as bases da vida mental, assim ela tenha consciência das reais competências do seu bebé. Pais informados sobre estas competências, adaptam-se, compreendem, estimulam os seus bebés e criam uma verdadeira relação. O objectivo deste estudo é perceber até que ponto os pais têm conhecimento de todas estas competências do bebé. Para isso, aplicou-se o Questionário sobre a Concepção de Competências do Bebé Recém-Nascido, a 52 pais com bebés de idades até 2 meses. Observou-se que os pais têm um conhecimento suficientemente bom sobre estas competências, considerando os bebés como seres activos e participantes nas relações com os outros. A idade dos pais não teve influência nos resultados, mas o grau de escolaridade e a profissão revelaram-se como indicadores de maior ou menor grau de conhecimento.

ABSTRACT: A baby is born predisposed for a relationship, with a whole set of sensorial, motor and relational competences which, in contact with the surrounding world, will allow him to organize and create a mind of his own, that will make him an unique human being. It is the mother, in the relationship with the baby, that helps him to raise the bases of a mental life, thus she is aware of the real competences of her baby. Parents that are acquainted with all these competences, adapt themselves, understand, stimulate their babies and create a true relationship. The aim of this study is to understand how far do parents are acquainted to these baby´s competences. Therefore the Questionnaire of the Conception of the New-Born Baby Competences was applied to 52 parents with babies till the age of two months. It was observed that parents know enough about these competences, considering their babies as active human being and participant in the relationship with the others. Age had no influence in the outcome, but the scholar degree and the profession turned out to be as indicators of a better or worse degree of knowledge.
