Resumo: A presente dissertação de mestrado tem como tema o tabelionado e os tabeliães dos livros da chancelaria régia de D. Afonso V. Aqui apresentamos os 451 tabeliães que depositaram o seu sinal tabeliónico nesses livros, identificados num corpus de 459 documentos. O tratamento prosopográfico dos dados dos documentos forneceu importantes resultados sobre os tabeliães na sua dimensão social, profissional, económica e pessoal, mas também sobre o seu colectivo e o tabelionado no reinado de D. Afonso V. Neste trabalho abordamos o tabelionado e como é que este estava estruturado; o estatuto socioeconómico dos seus agentes no momento das investiduras; os motivos invocados para as mesmas; e a transmissão hereditária, duração e acumulação de ofícios. Chegámos a importantes considerações relativas não só a cada um destes tópicos como também à obrigatoriedade ou não do depósito do signum tabellionis na chancelaria régia e à sua alteração. Também tratamos as circunscrições notariais com maior número de investiduras. Nestas analisamos dados de cada tabelião, a partir dos documentos estudados, de forma a contribuir não só para o seu estudo individual, numa perspectiva prosopográfica, mas também para o seu estudo de conjunto, do tabelionado e das próprias circunscrições. Graças a esta abordagem definimos alguns dos principais momentos de investiduras e compreendemos melhor o procedimento de selecção dos tabeliães. Realizamos ainda o estudo diplomatístico das fontes ou documentos que constituem o corpus, tendo identificado as seguintes tipologias diplomáticas: subscrições notariais; cartas régias de provimento do ofício tabeliónico; e cartas de licença. O seu discurso e estrutura diplomática foram igualmente estudados. Na parte final desta dissertação fazemos a análise das reformas do tabelionado e do regimento dos tabeliães que se encontra nas Ordenações Afonsinas. Aí dissertamos ainda sobre os trajes e vestuários dos tabeliães, as tabelas de emolumentos e as infracções ao ordenamento jurídico, a partir dos dados recolhidos nos documentos e do que ficou legislado.
Abstract: The following master´s dissertation has as subject the notary and notaries of Afonso’s V royal chancellery books. Here we present the 451 notaries which deposited their notarial mark in those books, identified in a corpus of 459 documents. The prosopographic treatment of the documental data provided important results about the notaries in their social, professional, economic and personal dimension, but also about their collective and the notary in Afonso’s V reign. In this work we tackle the notary and how it was structured; the socioeconomic statue of its agents in the moment of their investitures; the motives invoked for those; and the hereditary transmission, length and accumulation of those trades. We reached important considerations regarding not only each one of these topics but also the obligation or not in the deposit of the signum tabellionis in the royal chancellery and its change. We also approached the notarial circumscriptions with higher number of investitures. In those we analyzed the data of each notary, from the studied documents, in order to contribute not only to its individual study in a prosopographic perspective but also to its study as a group, of the notary and the circumscriptions. Thanks to this approach we defined some of the main investiture moments and we have a better understanding of the notaries selection procedure. We also carried the diplomatistic study of the sources or documents which form the corpus, having identified the following diplomatic typologies: notarial subscriptions; provisioning royal charters of the notarial trade; and license charters. Its speech and diplomatic structure were equally studied. At the end of this dissertation we do the analyses of the notarial reforms and the notaries regiment which can be found in the Ordenações Afonsinas. Here we dissertated about the costumes and garments of the notaries, tables of emoluments and breaches to the legal system, from the collected data in the documents and what was legislated
