Nos dias que correm, as infra-estruturas de Tecnologias de informação (TI), desempenham um papel crucial na sociedade e têm cada vez mais, um maior impacto no funcionamento das organizações, justificando avultados investimentos em plataformas e sistemas de informação. Estes investimentos são realizados com vista a um maior crescimento do negócio e para alcançar um destaque face à concorrência. Com este pressuposto torna-se clara a necessidade de a priori de qualquer investimento em TI's, a elaboração de um plano que responda às necessidades da organização e seja ajustado à realidade do negócio. No entanto, o planeamento e desenho de infra-estruturas de TI, também conhecida como engenharia de sistemas, enfrenta vários desafios como a crescente dimensão e complexidade dos sistemas por um lado, e a preocupação em garantir a facilidade e interoperabilidade de integração dos diversos elementos de uma infra-estrutura, pelo outro. São ainda fulcrais a capacidade e disponibilidade dos sistemas. É neste contexto que o desenho de arquitecturas de plataformas emerge como um passo obrigatório de um processo de engenharia informática. Neste estágio realizou-se a análise de documentos de requisitos apresentados pelos clientes, para a implementação de plataformas de serviços e a concepção duma arquitectura para essas plataformas, incluindo as componentes de Hardware, Sistema Operativo, Aplicações, Bases de Dados e Ferramentas de Gestão. Depois deste processo e da aprovação do cliente da arquitectura recomendada, o objectivo seguinte constitui na implementação de toda a infra-estrutura desenhada anteriormente. Paralelamente como outro objectivo do estágio realizou-se a análise do Processo de Gestão de Projectos, baseado na metodologia ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library), e uma descrição desta tentando compreender as vantagens da sua adopção. Com o intuito de analisar e descrever este processo e o trabalho realizado durante o estágio foi elaborado um caso de estudo sobre um dos projectos efectuados.

In these days, the Information Technologies (IT's) infrastructures, play a crucial role in society and are increasingly a greater impact on the functioning of organizations, justifying bulky investments in platforms and information systems. These investments are made for a higher growth of the business and to achieve a prominence in the face of competition. With this assumption becomes clear the need for a priori, any investment in IT's, the drawing up a plan that meets the organization needs and is adjusted to the reality of business. However, the planning and design of IT infrastructures, also known as systems engineering, faces several challenges such as the growing size and complexity of the systems on one hand, and the concern to ensure interoperability and ease of integration of various elements of an infrastructure on the other. Also, the capacity and availability of systems are core issues. It is in this context that the design of platforms architectures, emerge as a mandatory step in a process of computer engineering. Thus, as the primary objective of this stage was made an analysis of requirements documents submitted by clients, for the implementation of services platforms and the design of an architecture for each of the services, including the components of Hardware, Operating System, Applications, Databases and Management Tools. After this process and the approval of the recommended architecture by the client, the following aim was the implementation of the entire infrastructure designed before. At another goal of the stage was held on analysis of the Management Project Process, based on the ITIL methodology (Information Technology Infrastructure Library), and a description that tries to understand the benefits of its adoption. In order to analyse and describe the process and the work accomplished during the internship it was prepared a case study on one of the projects carried out.
