Ecologia no antropoceno: uma perspectiva objecto-orientada

Este trabalho propõe que o conceito de ecologia seja ampliado e passe a abranger todo tipo de relação entre todo tipo de ente, e afirma que este movimento é não só requerido, mas inevitável, devido à maneira como o chamado não-humano hoje impinge sobre diferentes esferas da vida do ser humano na forma do aquecimento global e suas variadas manifestações. Com base nas teorias de Timothy Morton, uma ecologia ampla é delineada, fundamentada sobre uma ontologia orientada ao objeto. Este é definido como um ente autônomo, ontologicamente primário, ou seja, anterior a quaisquer relações, que possui unicidade, e não se resume a suas partes ou a seus efeitos. Na primeira parte da dissertação é apresentada a ontologia objeto-orientada de Graham Harman, que é o ponto de partida para um conceito filosófico de ecologia renovado. Nesta ontologia todos os objetos são situados num mesmo patamar ontológico, o que torna possível desenvolver um conceito de ecologia verdadeiramente não-antropocêntrico, pois, a abertura relacional com a realidade (a capacidade de acesso a ela) é distribuída entre todos os objetos. São descritos: o objeto real - que se retira de todo contato - e sua manifestação estética, o objeto sensível - a maneira como aquele objeto revela-se. Porque todo contato ocorre exclusivamente via um objeto sensível, é argumentado que toda relação entre objetos (em outras palavras, toda relação ecológica) é essencialmente uma relação estética. A segunda parte discute a maneira como a abrangência do impacto nos sistemas terrestres e as marcas de origem antropogênica discerníveis na crosta sugerem que uma nova época geológica, correspondente ao período atual, seja introduzida na linha geológica - o Antropoceno. O descortinamento de um novo período, ao mesmo tempo que eleva a espécie ao grau de força geofísica, responsabiliza o ser humano por transforções de imensa magnitude. Isso exacerba a ansiedade, cuja origem é o encontro com objetos que recedem, permanecendo estranhos. A partir desta postura hesitante a Ecologia Sombria surge como alternativa para uma concepção de ecologia inclusiva, que leva em consideração as perspectivas dos diferentes entes e admite a dificuldade frente o alcance e a complexidade das relações entre objetos.

Abstract: This paper proposes an expansion of the concept of ecology to include all types of relations between any kind of entity, and it affirms that this movement is not only required, but inevitable, due to the way in which the non-human impinges on different spheres of human life today in the form of global warming and its various manifestations. Drawing from the theories of Timothy Morton, a broad ecology is outlined, based on Object-Oriented Ontology. In this ontology the object is defined as an autonomous entity that possesses unicity, in other words, it is prior to its relations, and its effects. The first part of the dissertation presents Object Oriented Ontology, developed by Graham Harman, which is the point of departure for a renewed philosophical concept of ecology. Within this ontology all objects are located on the same ontological footing, which allows for the development of a truly non-anthropocentric concept of ecology, because the relational opening towards reality (the ability to access it) is distributed among the various entities. Two types of objects are described, the real object - that withdraws from any type of contact - and its aesthetic manifestation, the sensual object - the way in which the real object reveals itself. It is argued that because all relations are established via a sensual object, every relation between objects (that is, every ecological relation) is essentially aesthetic. The second part discusses the way in which the scope of human impact, and the anthropogenic marks discernible on Earth´s crust has raised the notion that a new geological epoch, corresponding to the present moment, should be introduced to the geological timeline - the Anthropocene. With the unveiling of a new period, at the same time that the human species is elevated to the level of a geophysical force, it becomes responsible for transformations of vast magnitude; a fundamental anxiety is exacerbated, the origin of which is (ontologically) the encounter with objects that recede, remaining forever strangers. From this hesitant position Dark Ecology is presented as an inclusive alternative, that take into account the perspective of the different entities and that admits the difficulty in facing the range of relations among objects.
