Ao longo da nossa pesquisa com finalidade sob forma da tese de Mestrado em Estudos Comparatistas, dedicamos o nosso trabalho à problemática relativa à tradução do romance do autor checo Jaroslav Ha ek intitulado Osudy dobrého vojáka vejka za světové války [Destinos do bom soldado vejk durante a Grande Guerra] para dois sistemas literários; francês e português. Na nossa investigação analisamos a prática da tradução no caso concreto do romance canónico no seu sistema de partida, procuramos a definir o lugar que ocupa nas culturas de chegada, e levantamos um conjunto de questões relativas à tradução dum texto que reflecte a hibridez da cultura de partida na língua com fortes influências do russo e alemão, tendo como tema central da nossa investigação o tema da transferência dos elementos cómicos do romance checo para as traduções francesa e portuguesa. Na nossa pesquisa focamos no impacto da tradução na recepção do romance enigmático e mais traduzido da literatura checa, pela crítica internacional designado como provocador, anticlerical e antimilitar, na influência que a censura teve na estratégias tradutórias no caso do sistema português, na forte tendência domestificadora no contexto francês e no que essas estratégias tradutórias demonstram sobre s culturas de chegada. Na parte teorética da nossa tese de Mestrado nos vamos baseando principalmente na teoria de polissistema desenvolvida por Itamar Even-Zohar, estudos da problemática da tradução de humor de André Lefevere e nas teorias da cultura em relação ao fenómeno da tradução estudado por Susan Bassnett.
During the course of Masters in Comparative Studies, we have dedicated our research and the final dissertation to the study of the translation of a novel written by the Czech author, Jaroslav Ha ek, Osudy dobrého vojáka vejka za světové války (The Fateful Adventures of the Good Soldier Svejk During the World War) that has been carried out in two literary systems: French and Portuguese. Throughout the investigation we analyze the translation practice in the concrete case of canonical text in its source system, we intend to define the position the text comes to occupy in the target cultures and we raise a series of questions that deal with the topic of translation of text that reflects the hybrid nature of the source language, which is strongly influenced by German and Russian. We also focus particularly on the impact of the translation and the quality of the translation of what is on of the most enigmatic and most translated novel of Czech literature which has often been labelled by international critics as provocative, anticlerical and antimilitary. We also analyze the influence that the censorship had on the translator's strategies in cases like the one of the Portuguese system. Other points of focus are the strategy of strong domestication that we can observe in the case of the French translation and what these strategies show about the target cultures. The theoretical part of our dissertation is based mostly on the theory of polysystems, developed by Itamar Even-Zohar, the study of the translation of humour by Andre Lefevere and cultural studies related to the phenomenon of translation studied by Susan Bassnett.
