Description
Abstract: This work, under the form of a training report, is the Master’s degree in Physical Geography and Spatial Planning final stage, and its objective is the survey of the Municipality of Loures geoheritage and subsequent creation of geoturistic pathways. To accomplish this, it was indispensable to discuss some concepts as geodiversity geoheritage, geosite, geomorphological heritage, geomorphosite, geoconservation, geotourism and hiking. Appropriate methodologies were established, from the information collection, previous to the field survey, to the geosites evaluation and the geoturistic pathways creation. This stage had a fundamental importance for the general work organization and coherence, mostly in respect to adaptations made in inventory records and to the touristic value calculation. A chapter is dedicated to the Municipality of Loures physical characterization, establishing, from the beginning, some connections with the geoheritage evidences. Chapter 5 is the biggest one and is dedicated to the six units with geoheritage interest presentation, as well as to the twenty identified geosites, integrating the systematic inventory performed in field (sheets in the Appendix I), the bibliographic research and the analysis and interpretation of each site with geoheritage interest. In complement, the sites with archaeological interest situated near the geosites were found important and deserving a mention. The of tourism value geosites evaluation use five calculation sheets representative of the scientific, scenic, cultural, economic and ecological values, whose final average corresponds to the tourist value. Given the volume of data collected, these sheets are presented in the Appendix II. Finally, three geotouristic pathways were presented, indicating the routes that should be taken and representing them on maps showing also the geosites and sites of archaeological interest. The conclusions and final remarks include the work main results as well as the geoconservation and promoting measures proposed for the Municipality of Loures geoheritage.
