Satisfação conjugal e desejo sexual em casais em tratamento da infertilidade : caracterização e diferenças de género

Tem sido considerado que os tratamentos da infertilidade podem perturbar a relação do casal e a sua vida sexual. O processo terapêutico da infertilidade é longo, os tratamentos são invasivos para o corpo, sexualidade e relação do casal, podendo causar um impacto negativo a nível relacional e individual. Estando a satisfação conjugal associada ao desejo sexual, considerou-se pertinente estudar os homens e as mulheres dos casais envolvidos num processo de tratamento da infertilidade ao nível destas variáveis. O objetivo deste trabalho foi caracterizar uma amostra de casais em tratamento da infertilidade da população Portuguesa, averiguar as diferenças entre homens e mulheres em tratamento da infertilidade em relação à Satisfação Conjugal e suas subdimensões e ao Desejo Sexual e estudar as associações entre a Satisfação Conjugal e suas subdimensões e o Desejo Sexual nos homens e nas mulheres em tratamento da infertilidade. Utilizou-se uma amostra de conveniência recolhida em dois hospitais Portugueses. Foram avaliados 52 homens e 52 mulheres em tratamento da infertilidade, utilizando um Questionário de dados sociodemográficos e clínicos, a “Escala de Avaliação da Satisfação em Áreas da Vida Conjugal” e a adaptação do “Hurbert Inventory of Sexual Desire”, tendo sido realizada a análise comparativa e o estudo de associações entre as variáveis de interesse. Não foram encontradas diferenças entre homens e mulheres relativamente à Satisfação Conjugal e ao Desejo Sexual. Para os homens não foram encontradas associações significativas entre a Satisfação Conjugal e as suas subdimensões e o Desejo Sexual. Para as mulheres o padrão de correlações é diferente, existindo associações entre a maioria das subdimensões da Satisfação Conjugal e o Desejo Sexual. Mais especificamente foram encontradas associações entre as duas dimensões do Desejo Sexual e o Funcionamento Conjugal, o Amor, a Comunicação e Conflitos, as Funções Familiares, as Relações Extrafamiliares, a Sexualidade, a Intimidade Emocional, a Continuidade da Relação, os Sentimentos e Expressão de Sentimentos e as Características Físicas e vii Psicológicas, não tendo sido encontradas associações entre o Desejo Sexual e os Tempos Livres e a Autonomia/Privacidade. Os resultados do presente estudo permitiram verificar que a Satisfação Conjugal está relacionada com o desejo sexual nas mulheres. Não foi possível encontrar a mesma associação para os homens. Estes resultados apontam para a importância de em investigações futuras se incluir a análise qualitativa utilizando a entrevista semi-estruturada, para uma melhor compreensão das experiências individuais e dos seus significados na vida conjugal dos homens e das mulheres em tratamento da infertilidade.

It has been considered that the infertility treatments can disrupt a couple's relationship and your sexual life. The therapeutic process of infertility is long-lasting and invasive to the body, sexuality and the couple's relationship, which can negatively impact in relational and individual level. Being marital satisfaction associated with sexual desire, it was considered pertinent to study men and women of couples involved in the infertility treatment process at the level of these variables. The objective of this study was to characterize a sample of couples in infertility treatment of the Portuguese population, ascertain the differences between men and women in infertility treatment regarding the Marital Satisfaction and its subdimensions and Sexual Desire and study the associations between Marital Satisfaction and its subdimensions and Sexual Desire in men and women undergoing treatment for infertility. We used a convenience sample collected in two Portuguese hospitals. We evaluated 52 men and 52 women in infertility treatment using a questionnaire of sociodemographic and clinical data, the "Satisfaction Rating Scale in Areas from a Marriage" and the adaptation of "Hurbert Inventory of Sexual Desire", and was carried out a comparative analysis and study of associations between the variables of interest. No differences were found between men and women regarding the Marital Satisfaction and Sexual Desire. For men there were no significant correlations between Marital Satisfaction and its subdimensions and Sexual Desire. For females the pattern of correlations is different, existing associations among most subdimensions of Marital Satisfaction and Sexual Desire. Specifically associations was found between the two dimensions of Sexual Desire and Spousal Working, the Love, the Communication and Conflict, the Family Functions, the Extrafamily Relationships, the Sexuality, the Emotional Intimacy, the Relationship Continuity, the Feelings and Expression of Feelings and Physical and Psychological Characteristics, and has not been found associations between Sexual Desire and the Free Time and the Autonomy/Privacy. The results of this study allowed us to verify that the Marital Satisfaction is related to Sexual Desire in women. It could not find the same association for men. These results point to the importance of in future research should include qualitative analysis using semi-structured interview, for a better understanding of individual experiences and their meanings in the married life of men and women in infertility treatment.
