Esta tese aborda o problema moral da estupidez a partir do romance O Homem sem Qualidades, de Robert Musil. A partir do conceito de «homem sem qualidades» e da teoria de Musil acerca das qualidades humanas, identificam-se três tipos de pessoas e de problemas morais: o estúpido funcional, o génio disfuncional e o estúpido ocasional. A conclusão deste trabalho descreve os benefícios morais proporcionados pela estupidez a estes três tipos de pessoas.
This thesis approaches the moral problem of stupidity as it is described in the novel The Man without Qualities, from Robert Musil. Starting from the concept of «man without qualities» and from Musil’s theory about human qualities, three types of human being and their moral problems will be described: the functional stupid, the dysfunctional genius and the occasional stupid. The conclusion of this thesis describes the moral benefits that stupidity provides to each of these three types.
