Description
The rehabilitation and restoration of buildings has gained an increasing importance in the exercise of architecture. Specifically, the rehabilitation and restoration of the interior villages of Portugal, has been a bet which seeks not only to draw attention to the desertification of the Interior, but also boost the interior social and economically through rural tourism. Banrezes, located in Macedo de Cavaleiros, distrito de Bragança is completely uninhabited for more than 30 years, and was left to the abandon and the forces of nature. It’s degradated state does not allow a rehabilitation truly according with the original. In that sense, the project will be directed in a contemporary line, marked by the contrast. It is intended to bring life to this village through the coexistence of the brand of two times: the preceding of the ruin and abandonment and the contemporary.
