Considered by the European Commission as a European Destination of Excellence, Faial Natural Park is full of sweeping landscapes, native birds, unique plants and emblematic geological formations, surrounded by a magnificent blue sea. Created in 2008, Faial Natural Park has the mission to preserve this natural heritage, which is the product of a long history of coexistence between man and nature, based on a sustainable and lasting development. This report aims to describe the experience gained by its author between the years 2001 and 2015, and attest that relevant skills have been acquired in the area of land management, which allowed to associate the conservation of biodiversity and geodiversity to the economic development of Faial Island
