Mestrado em Arquitectura Paisagista - Instituto Superior de Agronomia
With this work it is intended to improve the coordination between the designer, the contractor and the arboretum, so that landscaping projects namely the planting schemes are respected since the design phase of the project until the final phase of the work (installation of green space). Surveys were carried out to arboretums/nurseries, landscaping contractors and designers and found that there was a great lack of articulation between them. Indeed, the identification of plants from currently existing databases (eg, internet) or bibliographic international, may result in developing/drawing up plans for planting plants with misfits in our territory (not respecting aesthetic requirements, ecological, functional and economic) and quite often difficult if not impossible to purchase in the market. In order to minimize this problem, it was built a content to develop a database with information from plant material and its availability in the Portuguese market, in order to contribute to the establishment of a link that allows the articulation of the needs of designers with the availability of arboretums, allowing to make a selection of plant material by criteria. Finally, with the objective of proving that this work represents a major contribution to the relationship between designers, contractors and arboretums, it was tested it in three different locations in Portugal, by carrying out various combinations for each of these situations, selecting the species most suitable and ending with their planting schemes.
