To address this issue, three gardens have been selected – Ajuda Botanic Garden, Tapada das Necessidades and Jardim da Estrela - these gardens created, during the mentioned historical period, played a significant role in the enrichment of its botanical collections. For each case, will be made a research of historical documents regarding to the composition of the garden (catalogs and inventories), the arboreal current species and a synthesis of all this information collected. Finally, there will be a comparative analysis of all this data so that it is possible to obtain records on the composition of these gardens during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, as well as presenting a range of approximate time concerning the introduction of exotic species in the gardens under study
