A qualidade de vida em idosos institucionalizados

O envelhecimento da população é um dos maiores triunfos da humanidade, mas é também um dos maiores desafios deste século. É fundamental referir que não se envelhece do mesmo modo em função do género, da cultura ou até região ou país onde se vive. O envelhecimento não é entendido, nem vivido por parte das pessoas seniores da mesma maneira, existindo um grande número de fatores que influenciam o processo de envelhecimento. As debilidades daí decorrentes causam fragilidades que levam à necessidade de um apoio/acompanhamento de proximidade permanente. Assim sendo, existem instituições, entre as quais os Lares e as Unidades de Cuidados Continuados que visam dar resposta às necessidades dos cidadãos dependentes, potenciando-lhe uma melhor qualidade de vida. A presente investigação foi desenvolvida nas duas tipologias de instituições referidas anteriormente, com o objetivo de avaliar a qualidade de vida das pessoas idosas institucionalizadas, tendo em conta os domínios, físico, psicológico, social e ambiental e ainda comparar os resultados nas duas instituições. Foi realizado um estudo descritivo-exploratório de metodologia quantitativa e de caráter transversal, em 71 idosos que obedeciam aos critérios de inclusão. Foi utilizado como instrumento de recolha de dados o questionário WHOQOL-bref validado pela Organização Mundial de Saúde, e adaptado por Vaz Serra, Canavarro e outros colaboradores em 2006, aplicado entre o mês de Agosto e Setembro de 2014. Para o tratamento estatístico foi utilizado o programa SPSS, versão 20.00. Os resultados obtidos evidenciaram que a qualidade de vida e a satisfação percecionada pelos idosos é em termos médios moderada. No entanto, nos subdomínios Social e Meio Ambiente constata-te uma satisfação boa, existindo até indivíduos totalmente satisfeitos nestas áreas. Verificamos que, no geral, os menos satisfeitos são os idosos residentes na UCC e os idosos do Lar revelam a maior satisfação no domínio geral da qualidade de vida. É indispensável que todas as equipas multidisciplinares que exercem funções nas instituições estejam atentas às necessidades dos idosos em prol da melhoria da sua qualidade de vida.

The population aging is one of the greatest triumphs of humanity, but is also one of the biggest challenges of this century. It is essential to note that not age the same way in terms of gender, culture or even the region or country where you live. The aging process is not understood, or experienced by the senior people in the same way; there are a large number of factors that influence the aging process. The debilities of aging process causes weaknesses that leads to the need for a support/monitoring of permanent proximity. So being, institutions appear, between which the Homes and the Unities of Continued Cares that aim to give answer to the necessities of the dependent citizens, potentiating him, a better life quality. The present investigation was developed in two typology of above-mentioned institutions previously, with the objective to value the quality of life of the institutionalized old persons, taking into account the powers, physically, psychologically, social and environmental and still to compare the results in two institutions. A study was carried and a descriptive-exploratory of quantitative methodology, of cross character in 71 old that were obeying the inclusion criteria. There was used like instrument of gathering of data the questionnaire WHOQOL-Bref validated by the World-wide Organization of Health, and adapted by Vaz Serra, Canavarro and other collaborators in 2006, applied between the August and September of 2014. For the statistical analysis it was used the SPSS software, version 20.00. The obtained results showed up that the quality of life and the satisfaction percecionada for the old ones is in middle terms moderated. However, in the subpowers Social and Environment notes a good satisfaction, when there are even individuals totally satisfied in these areas. We check that, in the general one, the least satisfied are the old residents in the UCC and the old ones of the Home reveal the biggest satisfaction in the general power of the quality of life. It is essential that the whole multidisciplinary team who performs functions in the institutions they are attentive to the necessities of the old ones and rules to give best his on behalf of his life quality.
