O presente trabalho enquadra-se no âmbito dos Trabalhos de Investigação Aplicada, e tem como tema “Prevenção e Segurança Rodoviária: das responsabilidades partilhadas ao desafio de travar um drama nacional”. A investigação teve como interesse primário saber se existe alguma cooperação entre as entidades relacionadas com a temática, aprofundando-se depois, mais o trabalho desenvolvido pela Guarda Nacional Republicana (GNR). A Prevenção e Segurança Rodoviária é um tema que se mantém bastante atual e continua a ser muito discutido. A sua importância fala por si mesmo, não estivéssemos nós a falar da preservação da vida humana. Muito se tem feito para conseguir atingir melhores resultados, muitos estudos, muitos documentos foram elaborados com vista à obtenção de melhores resultados, e o facto é que se tem registado algumas melhorias. Contudo, ainda há um longo caminho a percorrer. O trabalho foi estruturado em seis capítulos, onde no primeiro faz-se um enquadramento teórico do trabalho, uma introdução ao tema, no segundo explica-se a metodologia utilizada para a realização do relatório científico final, no terceiro aborda-se as várias entidades envolventes na temática de modo a perceber como funcionam e que tipo de cooperação têm com a GNR, o quarto capítulo é direcionado para a GNR dentro da prevenção e segurança rodoviária. No quinto capítulo fez-se a análise de conteúdo às entrevistas realizadas e apresentou-se os resultados das mesmas. Por fim, apresentaram-se as conclusões e recomendações. Finalizou-se dizendo que a cooperação entre entidades existe, ainda que pudesse ser melhorada no sentido de economizar esforços. Pudemos ainda dizer que, mesmo tendo dificuldades a nível de meios humanos e materiais, a GNR continua a desenvolver um papel importantíssimo na Prevenção e Segurança Rodoviária.

Abstract This work belongs to the subject Aplicated Researching Works and its theme is “Road Security and Prevention: from shared responsibilities to the challenging of stopping a national drama”. The investigation had, as its first aim, the discover of if there is any cooperation between the entities involved and, furthermore, the work developed by the Guarda Nacional Republicana (GNR). Road Security is a theme that is still concrete and there is still a lot of discussion around it. The reason is simple: it is important because we are talking about preserving human life. A lot has been achieved until now, a lot of studies and documents have been elaborated regarding best final results and the truth is that there have been registered several enhancements. However there is still a long way to go to. This work was organized in six chapters: in the first one we present a theoretical approach as an introduction to the theme, in the second chapter we explain the methodology used to elaborate the final scientific report, in the third chapter we talk about the several entities related to the theme in order to understand how they work and how they cooperate with GNR; the fourth chapter is dedicated to the role of GNR in Road Security. In the fifth chapter we presented the content analysis of the performed interviews and its results and in the end the conclusions and recommendations. In conclusion we may say that there is in fact some cooperation among the actual entities even though it could be improved to a better use of its efforts. We can also affirm that in spite of struggling with human and material needs the GNR continues to develop a huge role in Road Security.
