The focus of this study is on the analysis of the expectations and satisfaction of students of Higher Education in a Master‟s degree taught in e-learning. The problem of the study is based on the search for relevant data collected from the experiences of the students attending the first of University of Lisbon‟s Master‟s degrees to be taught in e-learning, in the subject area of Education, specialization in ICT and Education. The main purpose of this investigation is to characterize the expectations of the students towards the course, as well as their satisfaction after attending the course, considering the following dimensions: (a) design and syllabus of the course; (b) co-ordination; (c) faculty and tutors; (d) programme content; (e) resources; (f) work methodologies; (g) evaluation system; (h) assistance services; (i) technological infrastructures. It is also an aim of this study to understand how these dimensions relate to one another, and to identify the relationship between the satisfaction of the students and their academic results, as well as the effects of other factors of personal nature. Using a quantitative research methodology approach in the collection and analysis of the data, the study involves the participation of the students who attended the course and who were subjected to a series of questionnaires at different points defined in the investigation plan. The conclusions of this study suggest that the students had relatively high levels of expectations and satisfaction, which points towards a positive experience during the course. It is possible to note that there is a relationship between the different dimensions studied, leading to different strategies of improvement. There is also a connection between the levels of satisfaction and the academic results obtained by the students, and the results show that the personal factors analysed do not seem to have a statistically significant impact on each of the dimensions of the course. Ultimately, this investigation aims to contribute to the promotion of quality and success of e-learning initiatives in Higher Education.
