O presente estudo teve como principal objectivo conhecer as representações da infância no Bairro do Lagarteiro. Partindo dos pressupostos da Sociologia da Infância, e com o contributo da Sociologia Urbana, propusemo-nos conhecer como as crianças vivem e sentem os territórios que habitam, que representações fazem e o que podemos acrescentar ao debate sobre os modos de vida da infância nestes lugares. Cenário de sentidos e experiências, o Bairro merece uma observação, atenta e distanciada, que desperte consciências e seja um ponto de partida para a descoberta do que nunca pareceu ser novo ou interessante e do que precisa ser mudado. A aprendizagem do olhar acontece pela mão de um grupo de 10 crianças, com idades compreendidas entre os 9 e os 15 anos, que nos apresenta o Bairro através dos seus olhos. O retrato é traçado por elas, que ali vivem e convivem praticamente todos os dias, praticamente todas as horas. A este propósito e com esta finalidade foram levantadas diversas questões: o que pensam as crianças do bairro onde vivem? Como experimentam a infância neste território? Quais os espaços que lhes pertencem e como deles se apropriam? O que existe para além daquele lugar? Que relações estabelecem dentro e fora do Bairro? Que representações atribuem às vivências para além do Bairro? Que constrangimentos encontram no quotidiano? O que poderia ser melhor ou, pelo menos, diferente?... Ainda que este estudo não pretenda ser representativo, podem ser tiradas algumas conclusões. A esmagadora maioria das crianças que participaram nesta investigação aprecia e valoriza a vida no Bairro, que é encarado como um lugar bonito e, sobretudo, fixe. Não obstante, apontam uma lista de problemáticas perante as quais expõem possíveis soluções, revelando competências de participação e, maioritariamente, de acção. A infância no Bairro do Lagarteiro é vivida de forma descontraída e intensa, ocupando praticamente todos os espaços daquele território, através das descontraídas brincadeiras que acontecem na rua e se fazem acompanhar, sempre, pelos amigos.
This study's main objective was to know the representations of childhood in the neighborhood of Lagarteiro. Based on the assumptions/premises of childhood sociology, and with the contribution of urban sociology, we aimed to see how children live and feel the territories they live in, and what representations they do and what we can add to the debate about the lifestyles of children in these places. Location of senses and experiences, the neighborhood deserves an observation, careful and distanced, that can awaken consciences and be a starting point for the discovery of what appeared to be new or interesting and what needs to be changed. The learning happens with the involvement of a group of 10 children, aged 9 to 15 years, that presents us the quarter through their eyes. The portrait is drawn by them that live and play there almost every day, almost every hour. In this regard and with this purpose several questions have been raised: what children think of the neighborhood where they live? How do they experience childhood in this area? What spaces belong to them and how they got hold of them? What exists beyond this place? What relationships they establish within and outside of their neighborhood? What representations they ascribe to experiences beyond the neighborhood? What constraints they find in everyday life? What could be better or at least different? ... Although this study did not intend to be representative, some conclusions can be drawn. The overwhelming majority of children who participated in this investigation appreciates and values the life in the neighborhood, which is seen as a beautiful and, above all, a cool place. Nevertheless, they point a list of issues against which propose possible solutions, showing skills of participation and, mostly, of action. The childhood in the neighborhood of Lagarteiro is experienced in a relaxed and intense way, covering virtually all areas of that territory through the casual games that happen on the street and are accompanied always by their friends.
