This article focuses on the discourses of students of third cycle (equivalent to the eightth grade) of a municipal school in Porto Alegre. There are texts about violence, written based on the brazilian movie Tropa de Elite, 2007, that highlights the theme violence, showing the traffic conflict with brazilian police in the hills of Rio de Janeiro city. Discursive sequences about the violence of the traffic and the police are analyzed in the movie and in the students’ texts, in order to verify similarities and differences between the discourses, and to describe the discursive formation which the students identify themselves and from which they write their texts.

O presente artigo tem como foco de investigação os discursos de alunos de terceiro ciclo (equivalente à oitava série do ensino fundamental) de uma escola municipal de Porto Alegre. Trata-se de textos sobre violência, escritos com base no filme brasileiro, de 2007, Tropa de Elite, que destaca tal tema, mostrando o conflito do tráfico com a polícia brasileira nos morros da cidade do Rio de Janeiro. São analisadas seqüências discursivas sobre a violência do tráfico e da polícia tanto no filme quanto nas produções dos alunos, buscando verificar semelhanças e diferenças entre os dois discursos, a fim de descrever a formação discursiva com que os alunos se identificam e a partir da qual produzem seus textos.
