In this dissertation, a three-part division is proposed where these, despite the apparent division, come together as a whole that requires a wholesome view instead of a linear approach. You can, however, say that this structure follows a wide, almost global scale until urban design specific scales. What is being chased in these pages is, much more than formal a solution, but understanding the problem of the southern bank of Tejo river. No certainties can be found here.During the inquisitive process, the experiences and studies of the spacial reality in question have been indispensable, as well as the investigation of various views that are always present references.O Tema da Cidade (The city's theme) consists in a brief contextualization about the city and its ways of appropriation, which precede an also brief historical contextualization. This is followed by an interpretation built around analogies of the historical and contemporary circumstances of two urban sets implanted in the banks of a river. What follows is a roaming contextualization between what is strictly concrete and the extrapolation of interpretations. Despite the majority of these being based in concrete, palpable cases, the objective of this contextualization is typological, and not formal. Patent observation in the absence of any similarities whatsoever between the case studies and the proposed drawing, despite it being consequential of the presented visions.
