A presente dissertação tem como principal objetivo analisar as transformações que têm ocorrido na praça do Martim Moniz após a mais recente intervenção de que foi alvo por parte da empresa NCS. De forma mais específica, pretende-se uma análise que dê conta das transformações em termos de discursos, representações, práticas, ritmos e relações sócio-espaciais na praça do Martim Moniz, considerando a referida intervenção e as diversas relações de poder em presença. Para tal, será apresentado, em primeiro lugar, uma discussão metodológica e epistemológica onde se discutem as opções tomadas na presente dissertação. Posteriormente, apresenta-se uma discussão teórica, de forma relacional, relativa ao enquadramento teórico da tese e à construção de um modelo de análise. De seguida, relativamente à análise, esta começa com uma contextualização geográfica, histórica e social da praça e dos territórios envolventes, passando posteriormente para uma discussão das políticas urbanas em Lisboa, para a intervenção da NCS na sua globalidade, e, por último, a consideração das transformações da Praça do Martim Moniz ao nível das suas representações e espacialidades. Este capítulo é finalizado com uma síntese geral das transformações observadas. Por último, realiza-se uma análise crítica, onde se salientam as principais conclusões da dissertação e se realiza uma crítica dos pressupostos da intervenção em causa, bem como se apresenta uma crítica das próprias limitações da presente dissertação.
This dissertation attempts to analyze the transformations that have been occurring in the Martim Moniz square after the most recent intervention, from the responsibility of NCS. More specifically, the objective consists in an analysis that considers the transformations in terms of the discourses, practices, rhythms, and socio-spatial relations in the Martim Moniz square, considering the mentioned intervention and the diverse relations of power in context. For that, it will be presented, in first place, a methodological and epistemological discussion, in a relational way, related to the theoretical framework of this dissertation, and related to the construction of an analysis model. Next, in the analysis chapter, there will be a geographical, historical and social contextualization of the Martim Moniz square and the involving territories, a discussion of the urban politics in Lisbon, a description of the NCS`s intervention, and, finally, an analysis of the transformation in the Martim Moniz square in terms of its representations and spatialities. This chapter ends with a global synthesis of these transformations. Finally, there will be realized a critical analysis, in which will be discussed the centrals conclusions of the dissertation, presented a critique of the logics and assumptions of the intervention, and a critique of the own limits of this dissertation.
