This thesis is focused in the proportion Theory in Portugal connected to the sculpture, evolving several authors from the XVI to the XX century. It is not a general study, but it gives some contributes to this subject, like the comparative analysis of drawings, the translation of old documents, the revelation either of manuscripts almost unknown and lost, either of ignored investigators in this field, or even the existence of a valuable patrimony. The importance and influence of Dürer concerning the Portuguese artistic literature is also refered. The purpose is the recovering of the classic system knowledge about the representation of the human body, with the aim of it’s spreading and reinterpretation within the scholar field and the contemporaneous sculpture artistic practices
