A moda reflecte a ambivalência da cultura fragmentada da era moderna, ela revela-se igual a todo o resto da arte moderna, na forma como expressa uma cultura. Toda a arte estabelece uma fantasia inconsciente, o espectáculo que é a moda é uma das estradas que levam do mundo interior ao exterior. O Nordeste Transmontano é uma zona de grande diversidade paisagística e onde os residentes têm uma forte ligação à terra, propôs -se como pano de fundo, para o painel ambiente, uma paisagem rica em cor cujos tons são relevantes nos artigos de tecelagem e nas tradições que se guardam de geração em geração e daí factores de influência e inspiração. Os saberes, as artes e as tradições de Trás – os - Montes estão escritos na memória colectiva e genética dos transmontanos. Esses segredos passam de geração em geração, embora a herança cultural de um povo seja fatalmente afectada por influências do exterior e por transformações de estruturas determinadas pela sua própria evolução. Vivemos uma época que é global, e a informação também chega rapidamente, com este estudo pretendeu-se perceber de que forma o traje dos “Caretos” interagiu e foi a fonte de inspiração para a criação do painel ambiente, onde se incluiu toda a pesquisa, seleccionada a paleta de cores e respectivos tecidos, evidenciaram-se os materiais toscos e rudes, utilizados nas colchas seculares, e o tipo de tingimento, com a leveza e transparência das formas, texturas e materiais apresentados, de forma a influenciar os designers de moda a reinventar novos produtos, baseados na cromaticidade e na rudez deste traje ancestral. O processo de pesquisa foi desenvolvido inicialmente tentando compreender como se planeia e se intervém em todo o processo de construção do painel ambiente, tendo como pressuposto toda a preservação das artes e tradições, culturas e vivências e a sua forte ligação à terra.

Fashion reflects the ambivalence of a fragmented culture of modern age, it reveals the same as the modern art in the way it expresses a culture. Art has an unconscious fantasy and fashion is a highway from inner to outer world. The North–east from Trás-os-Montes is an area of a great variety of natural landscape where the inhabitants have a strong connection with the land and it’s a landscape full of colour. It’s shades are important in weaving goods and the traditions which people keep for themselves from generation to generation and so they have the main influence on people and their craft and they also get inspiration from them. The knowledge, the craft and the traditions from Trás-os-Montes are written on people’s memory and on their genes. These secrets come from generation to generation and the cultural heritage is affected by the outer world. We live in a global world and information can reach us very quickly, so this research wanted to understand the way the clothes of the “caretos” interacted with, and what kind of source of inspiration these were to the construction of the mood board. The research for the mood board included the cloth, the rough materials used in the bedspreads and the dyeing shades with the lightness and transparency in order to influence the fashion designers to reinvent new products based on the colours and roughness of the ancestral clothes. The research was initially done aiming to understand the process of building a mood board, taking in consideration the preservation of the art, the traditions, the culture and way of living and the strong connection with the land.
