Este estudo buscou identificar a influência da falência da empresa dos pais na intenção empreendedora dos filhos. A falência tem repercussões psicológicas, sociais e econômicas. As teorias do comportamento planejado, aprendizagem e marginalidade formaram a principal base teórica. Analisaram-se duas variáveis causais: vergonha e trauma diante das óticas psicológica e sociológica. A variável dependente foi intenção empreendedora. Personalidade e filhos de pais falidos e não falidos foram variáveis de controle. Estigma e modelos mentais, variáveis intervenientes. A investigação é quantitativa e transversal. Na análise estatística utilizou-se análise fatorial confirmatória e modelo de equações estruturais. A amostra é não probabilística, constituida por pessoas alfabetizadas dos 5 continentes e 33 países, tendo maior predominância de respostas oriundas do Brasil e Portugal. O questionário constituiu-se de questões abertas (identificação e indicação de outras pessoas ― Bola de Neve) e fechadas (sim/não e de múltipla escolha ― escala de Likert de cinco pontos). Usou-se métricas específicas para cada variável: trauma, intenção empreendedora, personalidade, vergonha interna, externa, vicária e induzida, esta última mediu a intenção empreendedora de filhos de pais não falidos. A coleta de dados on-line foi realizada por média socais, aliada a 11 instituições de ensino superior. As descobertas implicam repercussões sociais, psicológicas, econômicas e educacionais. Entre os resultados destaca-se a vergonha da falência dos pais como redutor da intenção empreendedora dos filhos. Entre as recomendações, há duas que merecem realce. A primeira, conectasse ao ensino do empreendedorismo: as organizações educacionais devem discutir as implicações da falência e não apenas estratégias, táticas e operações relacionadas ao lucro e/ou sucesso empresarial. A segunda é baseada na revisão teórica: as instituições de saúde, bem como desenvolvedores de políticas públicas, devem estabelecer grupos de estudos para aprofundar o saber alusivo às enfermidades relacionadas à falência dos empresários.
The aim of the following study was to identify the influence of failure of the company of the parents and the entrepreneurship of the children. There are economical, social and psychological repercussions within the failure. Theories of planned behavior, learning and marginality formed the main theoretical basis. The following two variables were analyzed: the shame and the trauma within the aspects of psychological and sociological perspectives. The resulting variables has an entrepreneurial intention. Personality and children of failure parents, alongside non failure parents, were the control variables. Stigma, and mental models were the intervening variables. The investigation is quantitative and transversal. In the statistical analyses, factorial analyses alongside with a model of structural equations was used. The sample is not probable, made up by people alphabetized from 5 continents and 33 countries. Hence, being more prominent to answers with origins from Brazil and Portugal. The Questionnaire consisted of open questions (identification and indication of other people- Snowball effect) and closed question (multiples choose – Likert scale of five points). Robust metrics were used along with specifics for each variable: trauma, entrepreneurial intention, personality, internal shame, external, vicarious and induced. The online data collection was carried out by social-media, allied to 11 institutions of higher education. The findings implicate social, psychological, economical and educational repercussions. The results highlight the shame of parents' failure as a reduction of their children's entrepreneurial intentions. Therefore, amongst other recommendations, there are two that deserve to be recognized. Firstly, to connect oneself to the entrepreneurial knowledge: the educational organizations should discuss the implications of the failure and not simply just the strategies, tactics and operations related to profit and/or company success. Secondly the recommendation is based on theoretical revision. The health institutes, as well as developers of public politics, should establish study groups to go in depth the allusive knowledge to the diseases related to the failure of entrepreneurs.
