Portugal was the first country in the Euro Zone to re-elect whose term of office occured during a period of external financial rescue and the country was obliged to comply with the budgetary requirements imposed by Troika. The financial, economic and social crisis in 2011-2015 makes the victory of PSD/PP coalition and the reappointment of Pedro Passos Coelho as unexpected as historical. The main objective of this dissertation is to understand the role of Political Communication in the legislative elections of 2015 and identify the factors that have influenced the electoral results, against the background of the election campaign of the parties with major parliamentary representation: Partido Social Democrata (in coalition with CDS-PP) and Partido Socialista. The analysis of this research focused on the strategy adopted by the candidates, based on a mixed methodological approach combining techniques such as content analysis and interview. The obtained results, interpreted in the light of the existing theory on the subject, allowed to identify the contrasting propaganda messages of the candidates whose campaign was marked by the high level of professionalization and the profusion of polls spread by the mass media
