This book includes up-to-date information and guidance needed by the early intervention community to build and strengthen practitioner’s capacity to work effectively with young children and their families. This guideline will strengthen an already model system of early intervention in Portugal and serve as model to other countries in Europe and elsewhere.
Understanding the factors and processes that shape intra-specific sensitivity to heat stress is fundamental to better predicting the vulnerability of benthic species to climate change. Here, we investigate the response of a habitat-forming Mediterranean octocoral, the red gorgonian Paramuricea clavata (Risso, 1826) to thermal stress at multiple biological and geographical scales. Samples from eleven P. clavata ...
In modern societies, social inequalities have being considered as one of the main current challenges, with largely impacts on populations' health. Indeed, food insecurity as a situation that exist when there are difficult in the access to healthy foods due to economic constraints, seems to be a risk factor for non-communicable diseases. In that sense, the monitoring of populations' Food Security becomes one pri...
The safety control of large dams under static and dynamic loads, involving observation data and numerical modeling, is now one of the challenges of structural engineering. The complexity of the dam-reservoir-foundation geometry, the presence of different types of discontinuities, the water-structure interaction, the influence of thermal and water level variations, the development of deterioration processes over...
Monitoring earth dams plays an essential role in evaluating the structural safety condition of this type of dams. Monitoring activities are related mainly with safety but also with the collection of valuable data to enhance the unders tanding of the behaviour of these structures. These purposes are not mutually independent but rather complementary (ICOLD, 1982). Monitoring a dam involves several activities, nam...
