Synchronization and information transmission in networks

Caneco, Acilina; Rocha, Leonel

The amount of information produced by a network may be measured by the mutual information rate. This measure, the Kolmogorov-Sinai entropy and the synchronization interval are expressed in terms of the transversal Lyapunov exponents. Thus, these concepts are related and we proved that the larger the synchronization is, the larger the rate with which information is exchanged between nodes in the network. In fact...

FRONTIERS IN THE STUDY OF CHAOTIC DYNAMICAL SYSTEMS WITH OPEN PROBLEMS

Caneco, Acilina; Rocha, Leonel; Grácio, Clara; Fernandes, Sara

We study the network synchronizability in terms of its local dynamics and in terms of its global dynamics. In previous work we obtained some results about the synchronization interval, when we fix the graph underlying the network, i.e., the network connection topology and vary the dy- namic in the nodes and about the effect of some graph parameters on the synchronization interval, supposing that the local dynam...

Recensão crítica de “New structures and spaces of learning: the systemic impact...

Rocha, Leonel

This recension focuses on the communication presented by George Siemens, on 10th October 2008, at the Web2.0 Meeting in Braga (Portugal), as a part of a line of thought that attempts to interpret the learning and skills developed by individuals who use tools provided by the Social Web. The pressure of technological change, the simplicity of publishing information and knowledge, associated to the increased capac...
