Através do teste de hemolinfa, reação em cadeia pela polimerase e isolamento de rickettsia em cultivo celular, todos os Amblyomma cajennense foram negativos, sendo que 634 (23,8%) Amblyomma dubitatum mostraram-se infectados com Rickettsia bellii.
