Pirólise de agulhas de pinheiro: resultados preliminares

Nascimento, M.; Silva, F.; Pilão, R.; Neto, M.P.; Ribeiro, A.M.

Co-pyrolysis of brown macroalgae and pinecones in a fixed bed reactor

Silva, F.T.; Nascimento, M.; Pilão, R. M.; Neto, M.P.; Ribeiro, A.M.

This study presents results on the slow co-pyrolysis of Laminaria digitata (LD) and pinecones (PC), at an average temperature of 560 °C, for mass ratios LD/PC of 100/0, 50/50, 30/70, 10/90 and 0/100. The biochar yields varied from 35.3 to 31.2 %, for bio-oils, the yields were in the range of 23.3 to 39.9 %, and for the gas phase, between 41.4 to 28.9 %, as the amount of PC increased in the feeding mixture. The ...

Influence of the operating temperature on the slow pyrolysis of pinecones

Nascimento, M.; Silva, F.; Pilão, R.M.; Neto, M.P.; Ribeiro, A.M.

This study investigated the production of biochars, bio-oils and non-condensable gas from pinecones through pyrolysis. The effect of temperature on the yields of the three phases and their characterization was studied. Char yield varied from 39.7 to 29.5 % and gas yield increased from 22.1 to 33.9 % as temperature rose from 408 to 661 ºC. Bio-oil yield increased from 38.3% at 408 ºC to 39.9 % at 562 ºC and then...

Bayesian forecasting of temporal gene expression by using an autoregressive pan...

Nascimento, M.; Silva, F.F. e; Sáfadi, T.; Nascimento, A.C.C.; Barroso, L.M.A.; Glória, L.S.; Carvalho, B. de S.

We propose and evaluate a novel approach for forecasting gene expression over non-observed times in longitudinal trials under a Bayesian viewpoint. One of the aims is to cluster genes that share similar expression patterns over time and then use this similarity to predict relative expression at time points of interest. Expression values of 106 genes expressed during the cell cycle of Saccharomyces cerevisiae we...

Superiority of artificial neural networks for a genetic classification procedure

Sant’Anna, I.C.; Tomaz, R.S.; Silva, G.N.; Nascimento, M.; Bhering, L.L.; Cruz, C.D.

The correct classification of individuals is extremely important for the preservation of genetic variability and for maximization of yield in breeding programs using phenotypic traits and genetic markers. The Fisher and Anderson discriminant functions are commonly used multivariate statistical techniques for these situations, which allow for the allocation of an initially unknown individual to predefined groups...

Factor analysis applied to genome prediction for high-dimensional phenotypes in...

Teixeira, F.R.F.; Nascimento, M.; Nascimento, A.C.C.; Silva, F.F. e; Cruz, C.D.; Azevedo, C.F.; Paixão, D.M.; Barroso, L.M.A.; Verardo, L.L.

The aim of the present study was to propose and evaluate the use of factor analysis (FA) in obtaining latent variables (factors) that represent a set of pig traits simultaneously, for use in genomewide selection (GWS) studies. We used crosses between outbred F2 populations of Brazilian Piau X commercial pigs. Data were obtained on 345 F2 pigs, genotyped for 237 SNPs, with 41 traits. FA allowed us to obtain four...

Artificial intelligence in the selection of common bean genotypes with high phe...

Corrêa, A.M.; Teodoro, P.E.; Gonçalves, M.C.; Barroso, L.M.A.; Nascimento, M.; Santos, A.; Torres, F.E.

Artificial neural networks have been used for various purposes in plant breeding, including use in the investigation of genotype x environment interactions. The aim of this study was to use artificial neural networks in the selection of common bean genotypes with high phenotypic adaptability and stability, and to verify their consistency with the Eberhart and Russell method. Six trials were conducted using 13 g...

Potencial de herbicidas para o controle de patógenos de solo do feijão

Lehner, M.S.; Paula Júnior, T.J.; Vieira, R.F.; Lima, R.C.; Silva, R.A.; Soares, B.A.; Nascimento, M.; Carneiro, J.E.S.

Genetic evaluation of milk yield in Alpine goats for the first four lactations ...

Torres, R.A.; Carneiro, A.P.S.; Nascimento, M.; Silva, F.F.; Silva, L.P.; Rodrigues, M.T.; Ventura, H.T.; Silva, F.G.

Random regression models have been used in evaluating test-day milk yield, providing accurate estimates of genetic values in animals. However, herd evaluation with only information from the first lactation may not be the best option from an economic perspective. Other factors should be taken into account, particularly other lactations. Our objective in this study was to analyze the genetic divergence between th...
