In the present study, we demonstrate two mechanochemical approaches suitable for the bulk scale synthesis of catalytically active Nb doped MgO rock salt nanoparticles. This communication deals with the ex-situ synthesis of rock salt type MgxNb1-xO whose structural characteristics are closely related with MgO.
