MG Travessia: a coffee arabica cultivar productive and responsive to pruning

Carvalho, Gladyston Rodrigues; Bartholo, Gabriel Ferreira; Pereira, Antônio Alves; Rezende, Juliana Costa de; Botelho, Cesar Elias

This paper presents the results of progeny 1190-1170-2, which was recorded as ‘MGS Travessia’ and selected based on its performance in the state of Minas Gerais. The cultivar has short size, cylindrical canopy, high yield capacity, high vegetative vigor, very satisfactory husk/bean ratio, grain quality compatible to traditional cultivars, and is very responsive to skeleton pruning.

Recovery of coffee cultivars under the ‘skeleton cut’ pruning after 4.5 years o...

Silva, Vania Aparecida; Rezende, Juliana Costa de; Carvalho, Alex Menndonça de; Carvalho, Gladyston Rodrigues; Rezende, Tiago Teruel

In view of the adverse weather in the last years as well as the intensification of pruning in new crops, it evaluated the vegetative and reproductive resilience after pruning type ‘skeleton cut’ in 24 commercial cultivars of C. arabica crop in 4.5 years of age. At 24 months after the pruning, the agronomic characteristics were evaluated by yield, floating grains percentage, bean size and vegetative vigor of the...

Genetic variability among robusta coffee genotypes in the state of Minas Gerais

Silva, Felipe Lopes da; Baffa, David Carlos Ferreira; Rezende, Juliana Costa de; Oliveira, Antonio Carlos Baião de; Pereira, Antonio Alves

The characterization and study of genetic diversity between accessions of the germplasm bank contribute to increased efficiency in selecting parents to be used in a breeding program. Thus, the objective of this work was to evalute genetic divergence by means of multivariate procedures among 71 genotypes of Coffea canephora var. kouilouensis and 56 genotypes of Coffea canephora var. robusta of the Germplasm Bank...

Dynamics of macronutrients in Coffea canephora genotypes with potential for use...

Carvalho, João Paulo Felicori; Carvalho, Gladyston Rodrigues; Ferreira, André Dominghetti; Rezende, Juliana Costa de

The cultivate Apoatã 2258 (Coffea canephora) has been used as a rootstock cultivar of Coffea arabica. However, due to the wide availability of genetic resources found in different regions of the country, there is a vast field to be explored in the research of new genotypes to be used as rootstock. The choice of these materials should be based in combination with the graft and adaptation to the ecosystem where i...

Selection of clones robusta coffee with production potential in area of Zona da...

Silva, Felipe Lopes da; Rezende, Juliana Costa de; Rodrigues, Fernanda Cupertino; Soles, Leila Caroline Toledo Cortez; Pereira, Vanessa Vitoriano

The objective was to select superior clones as agronomic traits and caffeine content of the grains of Coffea canephora through appropriate biometric procedures, to compose a base population to growing in Minas Gerais state conditions. Thus, we evaluated 69 clones of C. canephora var. kouilouensis and 46 clones from C. canephora var. robusta, belonging to the Germplasm Bank of Epamig/UFV. The populations under s...

F4 coffee progenies selection obtained from ICATU group cultivars

Pereira, Thamiris Bandoni; Mendes, Antônio Nazareno Guimarães; Botelho, César Elias; Rezende, Juliana Costa de; Vilela, Diego Júnior Martins

The objective of this study was to select, for agronomical features and resistance to diseases, F4 generation coffee progenies, obtained from Icatu cultivars. The experiment was conducted in the EPAMIG Experimental Farm (Fazenda Experimental da EPAMIG), in Machado- MG, using progenies derived from the crossing between Icatu with Catuaí Amarelo IAC 62 e IAC 17 cultivars and the IAC 5002 e IAC 5010 progenies. The...

Grafted coffee growth in mineral nutrient solution

Ferreira, André Dominghetti; Rezende, Ramiro Machado; Rezende, Juliana Costa de; Carvalho, Gladyston Rodrigues; Carvalho, Alex Mendonça de

The use of grafting in coffee, and give greater tolerance for nematodes, have shown influence on the growth of coffee, so the purpose of this study was to evaluate the growth of different varieties of Coffea arabica L. grafted into Apoatã IAC 2258 (Coffea canephora). The experiment was installed in a greenhouse, using the method of cultivation in nutrient solution. It used a factorial 7 x 3 + 2, and seven culti...

Genetic progress in coffee progenies by different selection criteria

Rezende, Juliana Costa de; Botelho, Cesar Elias; Oliveira, Antonio Carlos Baião de; Silva, Felipe Lopes da; Carvalho, Gladyston Rodrigues

In order to investigate the aspects related to the use of selection indexes in Coffea arabica breeding, analytical procedures were used: index based on the sum of ranks of Mulamba and Mock (ISR), index of desired gains of Pesek and Baker (DGI), classic index of Smith and Hazel (CI), base index of Williams (BI), and direct and indirect selection (DIS). Thirty-nine progenies were evaluated in the 4th generation b...

Development of seedlings of arabica cvs. grafted in Apoatã IAC 2258

Dias, Fabio Pereira; Carvalho, Alex Mendonça de; Mendes, Antonio Nazareno Guimarães; Vallone, Haroldo Silva; Ferreira, Andre Dominghetti

This study evaluated the development of seedlings of Coffea arabica cvs. grafted in Apoatã IAC 2258 (Coffea canephora). The experimental design used was a randomized block with a 7x 3+2 factorial arrangement. Were utilized seven C. arabica cultivars (Obatã IAC 1669-20, Acauã, Oeiras MG 6851, Catucaí Amarelo 2SL, Topázio MG 1190, IBC Palma II and Paraíso MG H 419-1), three kinds of seedlings (grafted, self graft...
