Objectives—We evaluated whether lesion-to-fat ratio measured by shear wave elastography in patients with Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System (BIRADS) 3 or 4 lesions has the potential to further refine the assessment of Bmode ultrasound alone in breast cancer diagnostics. Methods—This was a secondary analysis of an international diagnostic multicenter trial (NCT02638935). Data from 1288 women with breast le...

Apresentamos ...

Pseudotumor Inflamatório da Mama Bilateral: Um Caso Clínico e Revisão da Litera...

Castanha, G; Gonçalves, B; Gonçalo, Manuela; Fernandes, G; Silva, T

Inflammatory pseudotumor (IP) is a benign lesion that can affect nearly any tissue in the body and which may be confused clinically and in imaging for malignancy. Despite the widespread performance of breast biopsy, the finding of inflammatory pseudotumor of the breast is exceedingly rare. Excision of the tumor is the treatment of choice, but there is a relatively high rate of recurrence. The aim of this report...

Detection of axillary metastases in breast cancer patients using ultrasound and...

Lemos, S; Dias, M; Gonçalo, Manuela; Pinto, E; Fernandes, G; Oliveira, CF

The aims of this study were to evaluate the diagnostic value of ultrasonography and colour Doppler combined with fine needle aspiration (FNA) cytology for the detection of non-palpable axillary lymph node metastases in breast cancer patients. Forty patients with operable breast cancer (T1/T2), invasive carcinoma, not submitted to neo-adjuvant therapy, underwent axillary ultrasonography and colour Doppler preope...

Diagnostic value of ultrasound and color Doppler in identifying axillary lymph ...

Couto, D; Dias, M; Gonçalo, Manuela; Pinto, E; Oliveira, CF

PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic ability of ultrasound and color Doppler in axillary lymph node metastases of patients with breast cancer. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A prospective study including 55 patients with primitive, invasive, node negative breast cancer who underwent preoperative axillary ultrasound and color Doppler. Doppler and morphologic ultrasound criteria were applied to th...

BACKGROUND: To determine the accuracy of computed tomography performed with a water enema application (WE-CT) in the local staging of low colorectal neoplasms and to compare the results with those of transrectal ultrasonography (TRUS). METHODS: Forty patients with low colorectal tumors were evaluated prospectively by CT with the simultaneous administration of a lukewarm rectal enema (0.5-1.5 L). Thin slices (5 ...

Induced pneumoperitoneum in CT evaluation of peritoneal carcinomatosis

Caseiro-Alves, F; Gonçalo, Manuela; Abraúl, E; Pinto, E; Oliveira, CF; Vilaça-Ramos, H

BACKGROUND: Imaging of peritoneal carcinomatosis is a well-known problem even for technologies as recent as computed tomography (CT). The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether CT performed after induced pneumoperitoneum (CT-PP) could have a higher sensitivity in the detection of peritoneal implants over conventional CT. METHODS: Five patients with known ovarian malignancies underwent standard CT and CT-...
