Published for the first time in 1835, the Jornal da Sociedade das Ciências Médicas de Lisboa (JSCMed) is the oldest Portuguese medical journal, being the official organ of one of the oldest medical-scientific associations in the world, today with more than 200 years. Having gone through almost two centuries of profound civilizational transformations, JSCMed has survived to this day with a variable format and content, interspersing moments of great editorial dynamics with periods of less activity. Despite everything, over time it has remained a reference in the Portuguese biomedical editorial panorama, just like the Society it represents. In 2024, in harmony with the current paradigm of scientific publications, SCML's management wanted to carry out a profound renovation of its content and form, transforming it into an Online publication and fully Open Access editing and publication. JSCMed is the official journal of the Sociedade das Ciências Médicas de Lisboa, endorsed by the Lisbon School of Medicine, University of Lisbon, Nova Medical School and Católica Medical School, Lisbon.
