The journal is linked to the Conferência Lusófona de Ciência Aberta (ConfOA) and is the main channel for publishing the papers presented at the event. However, it is open to submissions from other scientific and technical initiatives, provided they address related topics, contributing to the strengthening of the production and dissemination of scientific knowledge in Open Science. Ciência Aberta Lusófona is the result of a collaboration between institutions in Portugal and Brazil that have been jointly organising ConfOA since 2010. The journal is co-published by the University of Minho, the Instituto Brasileiro de Informação em Ciência e Tecnologia (Ibict) and the Foundation for Science and Technology (FST), consolidating the commitment of both countries to strengthening Open Science in the Lusophone world.
