Abstract: In this artistic research I review two of my works, the instalations Rastros (2015) and Rio (2016), in order to apprehend and understand the relationships and connections among the formative elements of my poetics. I reflect about the aspects that constitute the concepts of memory, gift and inhabit. As I approach the collective memory of my family, I develop a process of identifying the particularities that are part of my individuality. It is through the concept of gift that I construct a reflection on the importance and influence of family memories in my work and in the construction of a creative process of self-representation. From the principle that gift is something transferred to someone, I consider the grandmother and granddaughter relation as well as the belongings of my grandmother Dorothy as gifts I have received throughout life. Another fundamental character of every gift is that it must be passed on keeping its meaning. This aspect is respected and it is developed during my creative process through the appropriating and thus inhabiting of my ancestral memories, establishing a movement to recognize my origins (outside) to know myself (within). The cycle takes shape the moment I expose my works, passing on the gift that I received from my grandmother for those who experience the stories and memories represented in Rastros and Rio
