A presente dissertação analisa o influenciador norte-americano Mark Bryan, engenheiro robótico de profissão que desafia a identidade de género através da forma como se veste (entende-se homem e pai, de saia lápis e sapatos de salto alto, no dia-a-dia alemão onde vive) e, na rede social Instagram, é um influenciador atraente para a promoção e mercado da moda não-binária. Este trabalho parte de uma abordagem qualitativa, na análise das publicações do influenciador na Internet, bem como das suas interações online com seguidores da rede social. E também quantitativa, em aplicação de questionários a internautas, sustentados no estudo dos novos media e na “ciberidentidade”, em processo de construção no espaço público digital. Interessa-se igualmente pelo fenómeno da apropriação de um estilo ousado enquanto estratégia de mercado (também editorial) para marcas de luxo como a marca francesa Christain Louboutin, entre outras. A proposta de trabalho que aqui se apresenta interessa-se pelas performances digitais que se movem na Internet entre símbolos de expressão individual; capacidade de alcance dos meios digitais e a promoção do consumo na sociedade contemporânea.
This dissertation analyzes the north american influencer Mark Bryan, a robotics engenieer by profission who challenges gender identity throught the way he dresses (identifying as a man and father who wears pencil skirts and hight heels in his everyday life in Germany, where he lives). On the social metwork Instagram, he is na appealing influencer for the promotion and marketing of non-binary fashion. This study adopts a qualitative approach, analyzing the influencer´s online posts as well as his interactions with followers on social media. It also incorporates a quantitative dimension, through the application of questionnaires to internet usears, grounded in studies of new media and “cyber-identity”, understood as a process constructed within the digital public sphere. It further explores the phenomenon of appropriating a blod style as a market (and editorial) strategy for luxury brands such as the French brand Christian Louboutin and others. The research proposal presented here focuses on digital performances that move across the internet between symbols of individual expression, the reach of digital media, and the promotion of consumption in contemporary society.
