This research offers a reflexive analysis by the slant of the Discourse Analysis, proposed by Norman Fairclough, on the importance of the relation of the teaching / learning of Portuguese Language in the Education of Young persons and Adults, with a special cutting out for pupils of High School of a private school in the central region of Sao Paulo, in which they all are scholarship holders of integral form, and the social and personal consequences caused in their lives. For the development of the present inquiry there will be done a lifting of historical and theoretical data as to the EJA in Brazil, a case study on basis of the results of questionnaires applied to the pupils and to the teachers of the school, as well as the analysis of the transcription of informations lifted from interviews done to some of the pupils who responded already to the questionnaires. The studies of Paul Freire and of the Social Pedagogy will constitute the guiding fields of this work because it understands EJA is a field of acting that must promote the awakening of the capture of conscience of the subjects wrapped in the teaching/learning process, making them autonomous and protagonists of their histories, leading them to understand that we are not conditioned and not determined by the reality that surrounds us.

Este trabalho busca fazer uma análise reflexiva pelo viés da Análise do Discurso, proposta por Norman Fairclough, sobre a importância da relação do ensino/aprendizagem de Língua Portuguesa na Educação de Jovens e Adultos, com um recorte especial para alunos do EM de uma escola privada na região central de São Paulo, na qual todos são bolsistas de forma integral, e as consequências sociais e pessoais causadas em suas vidas. Para o desenvolvimento da presente pesquisa será feito um levantamento de dados históricos e teóricos a respeito da EJA no Brasil, um estudo de caso com base nos resultados de questionários aplicados aos discentes e aos docentes da escola, bem como a análise da transcrição de informações levantadas a partir de entrevistas feitas a alguns dos alunos que já responderam aos questionários. Os estudos de Paulo Freire e da Pedagogia Social constituirão os campos norteadores deste trabalho por entender que a EJA é um campo de atuação que deve promover o despertar da tomada de consciência dos sujeitos envolvidos no processo de ensino/aprendizagem, tornando-os autônomos e protagonistas de suas histórias, levando-os a compreender que somos condicionados e não determinados pela realidade que nos cerca.
