Description
Based on Donald Winnicott’s theory of maturation, the present study proposes a reflection on the aspects involved in the constitution of the self, a fundamental process in the formation of identity. Following a literature review, the theoretical framework is developed through a reading of Winnicott’s theory as interpreted by Elsa Oliveira Dias, allowing for an in-depth exposition of its main concepts. The following two chapters serve as moments of suspension and reflective deepening, focusing respectively on the concepts of identity and gesture. In these sections, a dialogue is established between Winnicottian psychoanalysis and the phenomenological philosophy of Martin Heidegger, particularly concerning the experience of being and the understanding of the spontaneous gesture as a form of self-revelation. The discussion then centers on the Winnicottian concepts of pure feminine and masculine elements and their articulations with the phenomenon of the emergence of the true self. The proposed thesis - arising from this discussion and grounded in the conception of human identity as a process - stems from the theoretical and clinical developments undertaken, culminating in a synthesis that seeks to offer a new perspective on the constitution of identity and its relevance for psychoanalytic clinical practice.
