Nesse artigo procura-se refletir sobre os sentidos da inserção de jovens e mulheres na luta política promovida pelo MST, tendo em vista a referência aos assentamentos como espaço propício pata tal envolvimento. O objetivo é descrever dinâmicas relacionadas à construção do engajamento de jovens e mulheres como sujeitos de direitos, a partir do investimento na educação e escolarização e da referência aos assentamentos como locais de resistência. Por meio da etnografia no 6º Congresso e do diálogo das questões postas com pesquisas realizadas em assentamentos rurais no sul e nordeste do Brasil, aponta-se para o protagonismo de jovens e mulheres como possibilidade de incrementar e fomentar demandas políticas que beneficiam ao conjunto dos envolvidos nas ações políticas promovidas pelo MST. No entanto, percebem-se também desafios na concretização desse projeto, sobretudo, em referência ao local, os quais se evidenciam em trajetórias particulares de jovens e mulheres que residem em assentamentos.

In this article, the goal is to reflect upon the senses of the insertion of youths and women in the political struggle promoted by the MST, referring to the settlements as a proper space for this involvement. The purpose is to describe dynamics related to the construction of engagement of youths and women as worthy of rights, starting from the investment in the education and schooling and the reference to the settlements as places of resistance. Via the ethnography in the 6th congress and dialogue about questions brought up with the researches performed in rural settlements in the south and northeast of Brazil, the leading role of youths and women is spotted as possibility of incrementing and promoting political demands that benefit all involved in the political actions promoted by MST. However, it is noticed that there are challenges in the accomplishment of this project, mostly concerning the location, which are evident in the particular trajectories of youths and women who reside in these settlements.
