Social inequalities associated with migratory phenomena reveal the asymmetries of power, resources, and opportunities to which migrants are subjected. In Portugal, the increase in human mobility, driven by the search for new opportunities, has posed multiple challenges in the field of integration, consequently generating situations of inequality and social vulnerability. In this context, it becomes essential to understand the constraints migrants face in accessing essential services such as health care, housing, and education, as well as to reflect on the role of social workers in the design of public policies and in the promotion of human rights. This study is developed through a theoretical and reflective approach, supported by the analysis of relevant scientific literature for understanding the phenomenon under study.

As desigualdades sociais associadas aos fenómenos migratórios evidenciam as assimetrias de poder, recursos e oportunidades a que as pessoas migrantes estão submetidas. Em Portugal, o aumento da mobilidade humana, impulsionado pela procura de novas oportunidades, tem colocado múltiplos desafios no âmbito da integração, gerando, por consequência, situações de desigualdade e de vulnerabilidade social. Nesse sentido, torna-se essencial perceber quais os constrangimentos que os migrantes enfrentam no acesso a serviços essenciais como a saúde, a habitação e a educação, bem como refletir sobre o papel dos assistentes sociais no desenho de políticas públicas e na promoção dos direitos humanos. Este trabalho é desenvolvido através de uma abordagem teórica e reflexiva, sustentada na análise de literatura científica relevante para a compreensão do fenómeno em estudo.
