Speech at the formal opening of the academic year 2016/2017 that took place on the 21th October 2016. The author refers the broad acceptance of the IHMT educational provision, for instance in the Portuguesespeaking countries, both by attendance or e-learning. The democratization of knowledge is one of the IHMT priorities, mainly with the new Knowledge and Communication Management Office and also, at the same time, one of the challenges for the new biennium, besides investment in cooperation networks, clinical consolidation and significant contribution for a Portuguese scientific strategy towards global health and tropical diseases.

Discurso proferido na sessão solene de abertura do ano letivo 2016/2017 que teve lugar no dia 21 de outubro de 2016. O autor refere a ampla adesão à oferta pedagógica do IHMT, nomeadamente nos países da lusofonia, quer presencial quer nas soluções de ensino à distância. A democratização do conhecimento é uma das apostas do IHMT, nomeadamente com a nova subdireção de Gestão do Conhecimento e Comunicação, e um dos desafios deste novo biénio a par de investimento em redes de colaboração, consolidação da clínica e contributo para uma estratégia científica portuguesa para a saúde global e doenças tropicais.
