The Medical-Pharmaceutical Heritage of Lousal Mines is part of its social heritage and it is a fundamental part of the mining history and memory, the identity of social groups and their cultural practices. The research work entailed the study and analysis of the Medical-Pharmaceutical Heritage of Lousal Mines, through the investigation of the health services provided by the mining concession during its functional cycle (1900-1988). This heritage is considered to be one of the fundamental aspects in the social organization of the Mines. The medicalpharmaceutical services, such as other social services, are fundamental in improving the quality of life of the miners and their families, and promoting the sense of belonging and identity of the village. The ‘Casa de Saúde’ exhibition, which resulted from the authors’ research, is currently integrated in the cultural heritage of the Lousal Mining Museum. It provides the public with insights into the medical-pharmaceutical services available in the Lousal mines during its functional period.

O património médico-farmacêutico das Minas do Lousal encontra-se inserido no seu património social e é parte fundamental da história e memória mineira, da identidade de grupos sociais e das suas práticas culturais. O trabalho de investigação permitiu estudar e analisar o património médico-farmacêutico das Minas do Lousal, através da investigação dos serviços de saúde disponibilizados pela concessão mineira, durante o seu ciclo funcional (1900-1988). Considera-se este património como um dos pontos fundamentaisna organização social das Minas. Os serviços médico-farmacêuticos, tais como outros de caráter social, são fundamentais para a melhoria da qualidade de vida dos trabalhadores mineiros e das suas famílias, sentimento de pertença e para a própria identidade da aldeia.Atualmente é possível visitar a exposição “Casa de Saúde”, que integra a oferta cultural do Museu Mineiro do Lousal, a qual mostra e dá a conhecer ao público os serviços médico-farmacêuticos disponíveis nas Minas do Lousal durante o seu período funcionale a qual resultou deste trabalho de investigação.
