Este trabalho descreve o comportamento social de pessoas e de cães na sociedade atual, comparando o comportamento das duas espécies e indicando como uma espécie pode ter influenciado no comportamento da outra. Para realizar este trabalho foram feitos questionários com proprietários de cães para obter um perfil do comportamento em relação aos hábitos sociais das pessoas e de seus cães, abordando também aspectos da relação entre o cão e seu proprietário, visando obter também a relação de liderança. Baseado nos dados obtidos e em busca bibliográfica foi possí­vel estabelecer quais os papeis desempenhados pelos animais na sociedade atual e, principalmente, como os cães e os humanos se relacionam na sociedade, e as mudanças comportamentais influenciadas por uma espécie na outra.

This work describes the social behavior of people and dogs in the current society, comparing their behavior and their mutual behavioral influences. Data was gathered using questionnaires developed to construct a behavior profile of the social habits of people and their pet dogs, aspects of the relationship between the dog and its owner, aiming to clarify their leadership relation. Based on the collected data and the literature, it was possible to establish the roles of dogs in the current society, the relationship between them and their owners and behavioral changes caused by one another.
