Introducción: La teoría del cuidado de Jean Watson apuesta por el cuidado holístico mediante una relación de ayuda entre paciente y cuidador. La metodología “pase de guardia a pie de cama” implica al paciente de forma activa en la transferencia de información entre profesionales sanitarios, especialmente en contextos hostiles (como son las unidades de cuidados intensivos) para la comunicación y la humanización de los cuidados. Objetivo: explorar las percepciones de los pacientes que participaron en el traspaso de información a pie de cama en una unidad de cuidados intensivos, desde la teoría del cuidado de Jean Watson. Metodología: análisis narrativo de las entrevistas realizadas mediante el sistema conceptual-teórico-empírico (SCTE) a partir de la teoría del caring de Jean Watson. Se combinó el método empírico-racional mediante un planteamiento inductivo Resultados: Los cuatro pacientes entrevistados expresan percepciones inherentes a los supuestos y factores de cuidados de la Teoría del caring: relación interpersonal y promoción de la salud (facilitan la confianza y el empoderamiento); ambiente adecuado para desarrollo personal (mejoran la transparencia y satisfacción); paciente como eje central de la enfermería (aumenta la efectividad y seguridad de los cuidados). Conclusiones: La importancia de incluir al paciente en los traspasos de información le permite ser el eje central de sus cuidados. Esto le permite un crecimiento y promocionar en su salud, gracias al ambiente de confianza creado y/o a la simbiosis comunicativa entre los participantes.

Introduction: Jean Watson's theory of caring is committed to holistic care through a helping relationship between patient and caregiver. The "bedside shift report" methodology actively involves the patient in the transfer of information between health professionals, especially in hostile contexts (such as intensive care units) for communication and humanization of care. Objective: to explore the perceptions of patients who participated in the transfer of information at the bedside in an intensive care unit, from Jean Watson's theory of caring. Methodology: narrative analysis of the interviews carried out through the conceptual-theoretical-empirical system (CTES) based on Jean Watson's caring theory. The empirical-rational method was combined through an inductive approach. Results: The four patients interviewed expressed perceptions inherent to the assumptions and care factors of the caring Theory: interpersonal relationship and health promotion (they facilitate trust and empowerment); adequate environment for personal development (improve transparency and satisfaction); patient as the central axis of nursing (increases the effectiveness and safety of care). Conclusions: The importance of including the patient in the transfer of information allows him to be the central axis of her care. This allows you to grow and promote your health, thanks to the environment of trust created and/or the communicative symbiosis between the participants.
